Private acne treatment and management

Some patients may experience acne in their teens, during hormonal changes such as pregnancy, perimenopause or the menopause. You may be the parent of someone who has or has had acne. Either way, acne isn’t something you have to put up with, cover up or wait to ‘grow out of’. No matter your age or stage of life, we don’t see acne as a rite of passage or ‘phase’.

Acne treatment

The type of acne you have determines the best course of treatment and management. In some cases, topical creams will be the most effective option, but when medication is appropriate we will not hesitate to prescribe it to suitable patients.  We are licensed to prescribe all UK acne treatments, including some very strong oral drugs.

For acne, other conditions or blemish removal, our team of GPs who specialise in dermatology will discuss methods of removal, expected outcomes and will provide you with a clear cost for the procedure, alongside any aftercare or follow-up treatment or management that may be required.

What our patients think

I was recommended to come here by my GP. Dr Anderson and her assistant Jasmine make a wonderful team. They both instantly put me at ease and carried out the procedure with great care, professionalism and reassurance, as I was nervous. I would not hesitate to return for any further skin issue and I highly recommend Oxona Healthcare.

- Laura, Oxford

I had a sebaceous cyst removed from my neck. Dr Joshi and Jasmine were professional, efficient and friendly throughout and I felt in very safe hands. Very pleased with the outcome and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for any similar procedure.

- Anne, Oxford

Dr Anderson and Jasmine were brilliant, friendly, helpful and professional. I had a sebaceous cyst removed and I am very pleased with the result. Very impressed by the care taken and the time scale everything was completed, I would definitely recommend.

Frequently asked questions

Can I claim for my appointment on insurance?

You need to speak to your insurer prior to your appointment. Some insurers will reimburse you for the appointment, but you will need to present any documentation at the time of your appointment for the doctor to sign. Please note that all our doctors are registered with the GMC on the GP register not the consultant register. Please ensure you make this clear to your insurers at the outset.

Do you treat children under the age of 18?

Yes, we can treat under 18s at all our clinics. However, for more invasive procedures or those requiring a certain level of pain tolerance, such as verruca freezing, we would recommend only over 10s.

Do you include a prescription in the cost?

Yes.  If appropriate you will be given a prescription during your appointment. As a private patient prescriptions are payable directly to the Pharmacy. In some case, this can be cheaper than the standard NHS price. However, some drugs can be quite expensive. Your doctor will be able to discuss the expected prices with you and decide on suitable treatment plans to work within your budget. In some cases, you may be able to return to your NHS GP for a repeat prescription to keep costs down for you.
