What IPL can help with
IPL can be used to treat:
- Pigmentation concerns, such as freckles and age spots
- Redness and vascular conditions, including rosacea and spider veins
- Facial redness and flushing
- Acne and acne-related redness and scars
- Scarring and stretch marks
- Broken veins
- Cherry red spots
- Sun damaged skin
Benefits of IPL
- Non-invasive: treatment works beneath the skin without damaging the surface
- No local anaesthetic required: a ‘no needle’, effective procedure
- Minimal downtime: most people can continue normal activities straight away
- Versatile: suitable for both vascular and pigmented skin concerns
- Quick appointments: treatments typically take around 20–30 minutes
What to expect
A treatment involves pulses of white light to the area you are looking to treat, with minimal discomfort. A typical course of IPL involves 3 – 5 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart. You can see visibly improved results usually after just one or two treatments. Some redness or mild swelling can occur immediately afterwards, but this usually settles overnight. Sun protection is important during and after treatment.
Oxona’s specialist dermatology Doctors will provide you with all the advice and aftercare for your treatment as part of your initial consultation appointment.
Is IPL suitable for everyone?
IPL is generally most effective for lighter skin types. Suitability and treatment plans will always be discussed at your consultation, so that the approach is tailored to your individual needs, required benefits and outcomes.
